Resident Care Program Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Resident Care Program Supervisor is responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Resident Care/Associate Director of Resident Care with resident care, meeting with families, addressing immediate resident care requirements, completing quality assurance assignments, ensuring staffing coverage and coordination of emergency response protocols.

Resident Care Program Supervisor supports and collaborates with the DRC/ADRC, and is primarily responsible for coordination of education, student placement and new hire orientation; OTN coordination; oversight, and support of Required Programs, behavioral management program, QIP, RQI, high-risk rounds, audits; and RAI-MDS support.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in progressively responsible, related positions, preferably in a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Experience in the supervision of staff and the administration of employment policies and collective agreements is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health care principles obtained through the completion of a diploma and/or degree in Registered Practical Nursing, with additional education or equivalent in the care of seniors.
  • Registered Practical Nurse, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of policies and related legislation or initiatives and their significance and potential impact.
  • Sound leadership skills and ability to interpret and apply employment policies and collective agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet application skills.
  • Strong aptitude for detail-oriented work
  • The ability to collaborate/communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team members and other internal stakeholders
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit to TB Symptom Screening.

The following would be an asset:

  • A current RPNAO membership
  • Current AIS certification
  • Hold a current certificate in Credentialing (MDS)
  • P.I.E.C.E.S, GPA Certification
  • Foot Care course and experience
  • Wound Care course and experience
  • Demonstrable experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
  • Previous experience with group presentations
  • Knowledge and experience to facilitate adult education
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g. RAI processes and CIHI, supplies, equipment ordering, etc.)
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset (Georgian Village only).
