Position Summary

 

Royal Inland Hospital is seeking an RN or RPN with mental health experience and knowledge of child development to join our pediatric inpatient psychiatric unit for this relief full time opportunity until December 31, 2022.

 

The Pediatric Inpatient Psychiatry Unit provides acute psychiatric care to individuals under the age of 18 years for crisis stabilization. It is a locked 2-bed unit within the general medical pediatric unit of Royal Inland Hospital. Length of stay varies from 1 day to 2 weeks.

 

We are seeking an RN or RPN who has experience working with children and youth and has an understanding of child development. The nurse will work autonomously with children alongside an interdisciplinary team. The primary function of this unit is stabilization and does not involve intensive treatment.

 

Shifts of work are rotating Days and Nights; 07:30 to 19:30 and 19:30 to 07:30.

Note: Any position that is required to enter a Long Term Care/Assisted Living facility to provide services, the successful candidate of that position will be subject to the PHO Order regarding mandatory vaccination.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing and two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

 

**Experience with child and youth/knowledge of child development is an asset.
