JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Withdrawal Management and Treatment Services Supervisors provide support to staff and clients across multiple programs. This includes an 18-bed facility that houses 7 withdrawal management beds for any gender and 11 men’s residential treatment beds, and a 10-bed residential treatment facility for women. This supervisory position is focused on supporting the withdrawal management program.  Withdrawal Management is staffed by an interdisciplinary team that provides support to individuals withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs by monitoring client withdrawal symptoms, administering medication as prescribed, supporting brief service plans and discharge plans, and assisting with connection to ongoing service and supports. You will ensure the provision of high-quality services through program oversight, staff supervision and coaching, data analysis and quality improvement activities. You are part of a team that ensures client safety and comfort at this early stage of recovery. The Supervisor works collaboratively with the program’s Manager and fellow Supervisors, as well as with leaders across the Addiction and Mental Health department and community partners to ensure continuity of care for clients.  You make a difference!   

As the Withdrawal Management Supervisor, you will:

  • Provide operational and administrative supervision to staff (RPNs and Withdrawal Management Workers)
  • Coach staff to ensure the provision of safe and effective care, including medication administration and use of structured withdrawal monitoring scales
  • Ensure the team develops individualized support and transition plans for clients
  • Support and monitor implementation of protocols to assist withdrawal
  • Liaise with community partners, such as pharmacy, RAAM Clinic, hospital, to ensure optimal client care
  • Monitor data quality and medication reconciliation to support program improvement
  • Support program functioning through provision of direct client care as required (including screening, intake, monitoring medical condition/withdrawal symptoms, administering medications)
  • Monitor and support effective bed flow to ensure we maximize service
  • Ensure a safe and clean facility

Hours of work: WMTS Supervisors work either Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday (37.5 hours per week) in a 2-week rotation of days (i.e., 8 am – 330 pm) and afternoons (i.e., 1230 pm – 8 pm) with some flexibility required to ensure adequate staff and program support. Final schedule can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Training:  Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

$28.25 to $32.05 per hour plus $1 per hour shift premium for weekend work and comprehensive benefits. Starting wage commensurate with experience.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered applicants must be in good standing with CNO
  • College diploma or University degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in an addictions or mental health setting (one year of recent and relevant experience in the management of withdrawal from substances is preferred)
  • Skills in leadership and teaching/coaching
  • Formal supervisory experience an asset
  • Proof of valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Familiarity with MS Office and client/EMR databases
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to manage frequent exposure to direct and vicarious traumatic stress
  • Proof of vaccination against covid-19
