QA Peer Coach – RPN
Supports the implementation of CNO’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program which supports nurses’ continuing competence and quality improvement of their practice. Conducts assessments and provides coaching support for nurses participating in the QA assessment component of the QA Program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assesses the Learning Plans submitted by nurses and their completed QA assessment activities.
- Conducts on-site practice setting assessments, as required.
- Prepares an objective and comprehensive assessment report for the QA Committee; recommends remedial learning activities, as required; responds to inquiries of QA Committee to clarify information in the report.
- Provides support to nurses through formal feedback and virtual coaching meetings to help with their learning needs and improve their practice.
- Collaborates with College staff to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to the QA assessment process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Current registration with CNO and entitled to practice with no restrictions and no history of disciplinary findings.
- Five years work experience as a nurse including:
- Experience in interpreting and applying practice standards to various practice settings.
- Experience with the application of adult education principles usually gained through a combination of education and experience providing education and guidance to nurses.
- Experience in applying coaching techniques and facilitating support reflective discussions with colleagues and clients, an asset.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems and/or other technology tools.

- Analytical and Critical Thinking – conducts assessments and provides support to the nurses’ learning needs by reviewing learning plans against the completed QA assessment activities; compares and contrasts information using practice standards and guidelines; recommends remedial learning activities.
- Attention to detail – requires close attention to details to check own work when assessing submitted QA Assessment activities and preparing assessment reports for thoroughness and accuracy.
- Client Focus – identifies nurses’ learning needs by reviewing their Learning plans and other QA Assessment activities; conducts on-site assessments, where needed; responds to nurses’ identified needs by providing coaching support and feedback to improve their practice; treats them with in a respectful and professional manner.
- Communication – Uses effective communication skills when providing feedback and coaching to nurses; maintains open communication with others while considering sensitive and confidential information; adapts communication based on the situation, asks clarifying questions to ensure understanding; ability to write concise in-depth reports.
- Nursing Regulatory Expertise – in-depth understanding of nursing practice standards and guidelines; supports nurses in understanding and applying the standards to practice and their QA assessment activities; stays updated on health care issues that can impact nursing standards of practice.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Hourly Range: $47.63 - $50.61
Full Hourly Range: $47.63 - $57.16
