RESPITE WORKER / REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE

Position Overview

As a Respite Worker you will work collaboratively with a skilled, diverse health care team, providing quality care, within your scope of practice, in a supportive, fun, friendly, home like environment.    Workers must be aligned and reflective of the Agencies Mission, Vision and Core Values.

Our Respite services provide:

Primary caregivers a break from their duties, an opportunity to rest and restore.

A care plan that is directed by the Parent/Caregiver.

Care plans and daily programming that is unique to each child.

Menus and recreational activities suited to each child’s interests, abilities, and preferences.

Our Respite Workers are:

Passionate and knowledgeable in their care of medically fragile and/or technologically dependent children.

They possess excellent physical and psychosocial assessment skills within their scope of practice.

Collaborative, respecting the skill and function of each member of the team.

Clear and precise documents, working within the agency's guidelines, protocols, and policies.

Intuitive to the needs of each child.

Able to work with children who demonstrate mild to moderate challenging behaviors.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication skills, enabling and establishing positive relationships with clients/children, families, peers, and management. 

Demonstrates self-direction, flexibility, and organizational skills.

Able to delegate and share tasks and responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team.

Possess effective time management skills, the ability to set priorities, related to childcare, recreational activities, nutrition, and house maintenance.

Ability to apply effective body mechanics and able to meet the physical demands, lifting, transferring, bending, carrying, standing.
